Richard NORTH:

Born: Ramsey, Hampshire, England

Died: 01 MAR 1667, Saliisbury, Essex Co., MA

Will dated 26 Jan 1648, probated 14 Apr 1668. He died March 1, 1667. The following notes have come from "A Study of George and Susanna martin" by Janet Ireland Delorey:
Richard North emigrated to New England probably after 16 may 1640, when
he was left a legacy by his brother Thomas North and before June 1641
when he was made a freeman of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Although
the name of Richard North appeared in 1639 at Salisbury as one of those
receiving land in the first division of land, it appears that this was
entered at a later date. The early copy in the Massachusetts Archives
does not include him. This is supported by the legacy of his brother,
Thomas North. Under the terms of his will of May 1640, the lands of
Thomas, after the decease or remarriage of his wife, were to revert to
his daughters Elizabeth and Susan North. However, if they died before
marriage, the premises would revert to his brother Richard North. It
seems unlikely that Thomas would have left such a legacy to a brother
who had already removed to New England. In any event, Susanna entered
New England as an unmarried woman of about twenty years of age.
