Smith B Hadley *:
Buried: Berlinville Cemetery, Richard Co, . Ohio
*As of June 2011, proof had not been found that Smith was a son of Samuel. However, compelling evidence that he was a son of Samuel (born 1746) has warranted the inclusion of Smith Hadley and his descendants in these records. That evidence is:
1. Carl Homer Hadley (born 07 Aug 1929) had participated in the Hadley DNA project. The results of his DNA test likely prove Carl is a descendant of George Hadley, (ca 1612- 1686).
2. Carl is able to prove his direct genealogical connection to Smith. Therefore, it is almost certain Smith was also a descendant of George.
3. Smith Hadley was elected Commissioner of Highways 03 April 1809 and elected Town of Willsboro, NY "Fence Viewer", This is considered proof that Smith Hadley lived in Willsboro, NY
4. Smith, along with Samuel and Samuel Jr. Hadley amongst others, appear in a list of men liable to work on the "highway" from the Town of Willsboro, Essex Co., NY. Smith is listed as having worked 23 May 1796 for five days as did both Samuel and Samuel Jr. although the latter two only worked for three days. This may be considered proof that Smith at least knew Samuel and Samuel Jr. and all three were from the same town and likely worked together improving the roads as was required for all able male residents of that town.
He died at the home of his son Isaac, in Mt Vernon, Knox Co. Ohio
In 1810, he moved with his family to Knox County, Ohio
