Harry Albert SOLOMON:

He was too old to be drafted in World War 1 but enlisted anyway. He had some college education at Columbia University in NYC before enterining the armed services. He also was a resident of NYC at the time of his induction into WW1. He was raised in a comfortable home in NYC and had an automobile. As such, he acquired a drivers licence. At that time, the armed services thought that to dive an automoblie required a special level of intelligence not realizing that those that had acquired the skill to drive a car was usually the result of economic status. With driver licence in hand during WW1 he was assigned to driving a truck.
At one time he owned the American Shellac Co. in the NYC area where he had spent most of life. He also lowned a home in Port Washington, NY. Upon his retirement, he purchased a home in Bennington, VT were he spent the later years of his life. He is buried in the National Cemetery at "The Bennington Monument", Bennington, VT He was married 3 times and had only one child and that was with his third wife, Ruby Tilton. ( There is a record of a Harry Solomon, born in NYC on Feb. 7, 1892, Certificate # 5442. Research needs to be done to establish if this is the same person)
